Terms of use

1. Acceptance

These terms apply to the website at rangelendger.org and to the RangeLendger iOS app (together, "RangeLendger"), which are maintained by an individual developer as a personal, non-commercial project. By using RangeLendger you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

2. What RangeLendger is

RangeLendger is a private journal for an electric vehicle: charging sessions, trips, efficiency and service history that you record yourself. It is a record-keeping tool, not a measurement instrument.

Values such as range, efficiency, pack capacity, cost per mile and remaining service life are estimates calculated from figures you enter or from readings you copy in. They are not live vehicle telemetry, they are not certified measurements, and they should not be relied on for warranty claims, resale representations, tax reporting, insurance, or any decision where accuracy matters legally or financially. Verify anything important against the vehicle itself or an authorised service provider.

3. No manufacturer affiliation

RangeLendger is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to Tesla, Inc. or any other vehicle manufacturer. "Tesla", "Model 3" and related names, logos and marks are the property of Tesla, Inc.; any other product or company names mentioned are the property of their respective owners. They are referred to here only to describe the kind of vehicle the journal was written for, in a nominative, descriptive sense.

Manufacturer logos and brand assets are not used in the app or on this site, and no impression of an official partnership is intended or should be inferred.

4. Not a safety or control system

RangeLendger does not send commands to a vehicle. It cannot lock, unlock, precondition, open a charge port, start, stop or move anything. It must not be used as a safety-critical tool, a range-planning system for emergencies, or a substitute for the vehicle's own instrumentation, warnings or manufacturer maintenance schedule.

Do not interact with the app while driving. Enter your entries when parked.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use RangeLendger lawfully and, in particular, not to:

• use it in connection with unofficial, reverse-engineered or unauthorised vehicle APIs;
• use it to access a vehicle or an account you are not authorised to access;
• attempt to disrupt, probe or misuse this website or its hosting;
• misrepresent RangeLendger as an official manufacturer product or service.

6. Third-party services

If you choose to connect an official manufacturer owner or fleet API, that connection is governed by the manufacturer's own developer terms, privacy policy, pricing, rate limits and revocation rules, in addition to these terms. The developer has no control over those services and is not responsible for their availability, accuracy, cost or changes.

The page at /oauth/callback on this site is a static redirect target for such an authorisation flow. It performs no server-side processing and stores nothing.

This website is hosted by GitHub Pages, and use of the site is also subject to the host's applicable terms.

7. Availability and changes

RangeLendger is a personal project maintained in spare time. There is no service level, no support commitment and no guarantee of continued availability. Features may change, be removed, or never ship at all, and the site or app may be modified or discontinued at any time without notice.

These terms may be updated. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms, and the "last updated" date above will reflect the change.

8. Your data

Journal entries you create belong to you. They are stored on your device, not on a developer-operated server, and no ownership of them is claimed. Because the developer holds no copy, you are responsible for your own backups; loss of a device, deletion of the app, or a failed restore can mean permanent loss of your journal. The privacy policy describes data handling in detail and forms part of these terms.

9. Intellectual property

The RangeLendger name, the site design, its text and its graphics are the property of the developer, except for third-party marks referenced descriptively as described above. Personal use of the site is welcome; wholesale copying of it to present a competing or impersonating product is not.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

RangeLendger is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including without limitation any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. No warranty is given that the software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that calculations, estimates or stored records will be accurate or preserved.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, vehicle records, profits, savings or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use RangeLendger — even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Because RangeLendger is provided free of charge, the developer's total aggregate liability for all claims relating to it is limited to the amount you paid for it, which is zero.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer resides, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your place of residence provides otherwise. If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in force.
